2018 Chateau Pibarnon Bandol Rosé, Provence
The wines of Provence are proof that rosé can be drunk year round, with anything, and can age. I have had rosés from the region with 10 years of age and they were transcendent. Pibarnon is one of the top tier producers in the region, making rosés that are aromatic, textural, and "serious" while still maintaining the requisite exuberance to be thirst quenching in the summer. This is one of the great rosés of the world.
"Glistening orange. Pungent cherry, blood orange and floral scents, along with suggestions of succulent herbs and chalky minerals. Weighty red berry, citrus fruit and candied lavender flavors show sharp delineation and pick up a deeper peach note with aeration. Silky and broad on the impressively long finish, which leaves a refreshingly bitter orange pith note behind. 92 pts." -- Vinous
