In 1825, Pierre Faiveley founded the firm that now bears the name Domaine Faiveley. At that time, the firm was a classic négociant, buying and selling wine. But from generation to generation, with a strong commitment to the quality of Burgundy’s patrimony, the Faiveley family has purchased vineyards and is today among the largest owners of classified vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise with holdings totaling 331 acres, of which 30 acres are grands crus and 67 acres are premiers crus. In fact, Faiveley owns something like 80% of the vineyards that they work with, which is staggering for a company the size of Faiveley in Burgundy. And the quality is outstanding. The 2016 Chardonnay is everything you want in a Bourgogne Chardonnay, with a beautiful richness and just a touch of oak spice but with a live and refreshing backbone of acidity. This is a steal at this price. Especially now with Burgundies being hit with the wine tariffs.
